They say, "There's a first time for everything," and this was indeed my first time getting a tattoo. And I must say, the experience was surprisingly pleasant. The shop is located in a very cozy neighborhood. It sitson the third floor of the building and has a very nice balcony. There, I could absorb the cold late spring breeze looking out the Hanoian atmosphere outside, chill, and talk with my friend while waiting for Kim to finish setting up for my session. There's serenity amid the alt vibe oozing from this place, and it's kind of funny if you think about it (I love the music here). Below is a vintage secondhand shop that's worth checking out, too. Too bad there's no black cat here, and of course there's a reason why there's none, but can I at least hug a black cat plushie please? T,T. Joke aside. Today, only Kimie was there, so there was this intimate and very private feeling which I am really fond of. Since this was my first time getting a tattoo, I was nervous at first, expecting loud places and meeting lots of people and all that (my expectations of tattoo shops, sorry!). But here, it was only Kim and I, two people with the same love for art. Not many words were exchanged, but I could feel her love for her work nevertheless. This calmed me down, and I felt confident enough to entrust my hands to her talent. She was friendly and patient enough to enthusiastically go through several iterations of the design and end up with a satisfactory result, very fine art and delicate details, hurray! I would love to talk more about her work and this wonderful place, but I guess I'll leave that for my next visit here. See ya, Ink Kimie

If you’re looking for a women-owned, vibey, cozy, chill but still professional studio to get a tattoo in Hanoi, Black Cat is absolutely the place to go!!! I came to Vietnam with absolutely no intention of getting a tattoo—and somehow left with three. As a Canadian with tattoos from all over the world, I don’t say this lightly: these are the best tattoos I’ve ever received. From the moment I walked into this studio, I knew it was something special. I ended up coming back again and again during my last few days in Hanoi—not just because of the work, but because of the people and the experience they created. The quality and detail are absolutely unbelievable. The precision, the care, and the attention to every little detail is on another level. On top of that, the two women who own the studio are some of the sweetest, most genuine people I’ve met. They made me feel completely comfortable, seen, and taken care of the entire time. Nothing felt rushed—everything was done with intention, patience, and so much heart. This was so much more than just getting tattooed. I’m leaving not only with pieces I absolutely love, but with memories and friendships I’ll carry with me. Truly beyond a 5/5. If you’re in Hanoi, don’t even consider going anywhere else. Thank you Ngun and Lamie for making my trip the best adventure I've ever been on and for being in my life. From strangers, to best friends and more. I am so happy i found Lamie while looking up artists in Hanoi! I booked for a whole day of custom tattoos and finally i came back to next day to get more tattoos because the results were even better than i hoped. had an amazing time getting tattooed by lamie and kimie, they are both are super talented and i felt so welcomed and comfortable during the whole process. They also took me out to lunch and bought me milk tea, overall 10/10 experience!!!!

This was by far one of the best tattoo experiences I’ve ever had. The girls were the sweetest beings on earth and the vibes were friendly and comforting the entire time. And the tattoo came out STUNNING, I don’t think anyone could’ve done it any better.

Got a tattoo day 1 in Hanoi with Lam and it was the best way to start the holiday here. Met some cool people and had a full day of just hanging out having fun. And my tattoo turned out INCREDIBLE!!!! It’s the moon&sun in my pics ^.^ they were so professional and well thought out - very safe space for femmes and they encourage your crazy ideas for tats! Seriously recommend if you’re looking for alternative, gothic tattoos from Lam, but also the other artists have their own really cool style!

Got my second tattoo here - Space: the shop is on the second floor above a thrift shop in a small sunny alley with lovely view. The studio is nicely decorated and super clean. - The tattoo session: tattoo artist is very professional and safe. We agreed on the design beforehand, and she makes sure I was satisfied with the size before we start, giving me advice and opinion throughout the process. No pushy or anything. She wore gloves, sterilized tools, wrapped the chair/surface where she put her tools on with cling film to make sure everything is clean. Made me feel very comfortable throughout the session and even let me pick the music. - As evident my the pic, the artist has good skill with 5 years of experience. The shop seems to gear towards a darker style of art using lots of black shade and creepy (in a good way) designs, which is just what I like. Super satisfied with how my tat turned out 🖤

I had the most wonderful experience getting my tattoo here with Lam! Nun and Lam have designed such a comfy and clean space for your tattoo experience. She worked with me for a while on placement and the stencil design and was so patient and kind. Six hours flew by with great music, wonderful conversation, and excitement to see my beautiful piece. My next trip to Hanoi will definitely be coming back to get more. I am so stoked with my tattoo.

2 amazing artists, I got one tattoo from each of them and am thrilled with both. Very clean lines, and very light handed artists so tats are healing well and quickly.
